How does Tally learn my business over time?
Every document you correct, approve, or flag teaches Tally something. She learns — vendor memory (who you pay, typical amounts, the right GL accounts), spending baselines for what “normal” looks like, and a trust score per vendor. She connects the patterns: a duplicate invoice, a vendor charging 3× their average, a new payee that needs a W-9. She acts — flagging exceptions with context, auto-approving the routine, surfacing only what needs your eyes. Within weeks, your regulars run themselves — and you only see what actually needs review.
What’s the difference between intelligence on Free and paid plans?
Free gets the full brain on your own data — vendor memory, anomaly detection, ask-Tally chat, open loops, the works. Paid tiers add what Tally does with that intelligence: connect your bank and push to QuickBooks (Starter), auto-process trusted vendors and read forwarded email (Pro), and pool firm-wide intelligence across all your clients (Business — for bookkeeping firms). Shorthand: Free = Tally thinks. Paid = Tally acts. Business = Tally runs a firm.
Does Tally work with QuickBooks Online?
Yes — approved bills and invoices push directly to QuickBooks Online with your GL mappings honored. Xero and NetSuite are on the roadmap; talk to us if you need either today.
How is my data handled?
Your documents, corrections, and vendor memory are private to your workspace. We never use your data to train public models. Firm-wide intelligence on the Business tier is scoped to your firm only — never cross-firm. SOC 2 Type II in progress.
Can I import historical documents?
Yes — import CSV exports from QuickBooks or Xero, or upload historical PDFs in bulk via the Migration tool. Tally backfills your vendor memory so the learning starts warm, not cold.
Do you operate in Canada / outside the US?
Tally is US-first for full rollout, but Canadian SMBs and bookkeeping firms can use Tally where the workflow fits document review, receipt and invoice organization, Inbox intake, bank-feed availability, and bookkeeper-led approval.
For Canadian businesses, Tally can still help reduce repetitive review by organizing documents, learning vendor patterns, flagging unusual items, and keeping humans in control. Connected features may vary by bank-feed coverage, accounting integration, currency, tax setup, and local requirements.
Canada support is on the roadmap and will expand based on customer and pilot demand. Tally does not currently claim CRA filing, T4A/T5018 generation or filing, or full Canadian tax-form support. If you're in Canada, we'll confirm your setup during onboarding before promising connected workflows.
What if I want to cancel?
Month-to-month. Cancel any time — access stays through the end of your billing period. Export everything to CSV or PDF before you go. No lock-in, no retention calls.
